This new children’s treatment centre, complete with an early years school and community facilities,  provides a one-stop hub for therapy, services and support  for children and families living with disabilities. Going beyond design for safety and accessibility, One Kids Place is a welcoming beacon in the community, a place full of space, light, colour and movement.

Continuous close collaboration with the team at Mitchell Jensen Architects fostered warm, engaging and cohesive design solutions. Generous circulation spaces maximize accessibility and encourage movement as integral to therapy and learning activities. Wood Columns and soaring ceilings in the celebratory main lobby and corridor are inspired by northern forests. Bright colour is layered judiciously to add energy and assist with orientation and wayfinding. Special installations draw upon nature to delight and inform: an aquarium, a green living wall, lyrical suspended panels, and tactile wood discovery walls.
