Services: visioning, interior design and art consulting
The expansion and renovation of Saint Marys Hospital at the Mayo Medical Centre in Rochester Minnesota included the development of a “children’s hospital within the hospital” – all facilities for inpatient pediatric programs, pediatric intensive care, and neonatal intensive care. Carlyle Design Associates worked closely with a multi-disciplinary group of staff and family representatives and with HDR Architects of Omaha, Nebraska to establish the design vision and objectives for new and renovated spaces – from lobby to patient room.
Carlyle Design lead the development of interior design concepts inspired by universal experiences of childhood and nature, while respecting Mayo culture, quality and facility standards. Environments provide lasting value and appeal through the use of natural materials like wood, stone, ceramic tile and glass. Spaces throughout are enriched with details to discover. .
Special consideration was given to design of integrated casegoods in patient rooms as well as to family gathering and waiting spaces, playrooms for different age groups, acoustic ceiling treatments and variable lighting solutions.
Services included the development of concepts for art work by children and professionals and for art/cultural references applied throughout in flooring, railings, windows, ceilings, columns and millwork.
